DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY!
By Anna Parkins
Reiki practitioners continue to amaze me. The Reiki students I have attracted this year are no exception. Often I feel they are my teachers and I am the student. At the October Reiki share organized by Nathalie in Prosper, our group gathered to share Reiki with horses. Our gathering of 16 included friends from McKinney, Allen, Richardson, Dallas and Fort Worth. As we introduced ourselves to the various horses (plus a couple of owners) each of us could feel connected with the flow of Reiki energy, each of us had a unique experience. I felt the horses welcomed our presence. Our experience was facilitated by our own “expert” Nathalie who prepared information on animal chakras, feedback forms as well as tips on horse etiquette. Nathalie’s passion for horses and her own horse, Damascus, was evident – I can’t wait to read the books she is going to write. As far as our Reiki shares, this one tops the list! Our core group has a penchant for doing things differently and this share expanded our Reiki experience greatly. Have I made notes in my Reiki journal? Not yet, but I will. Am still integrating. What else has been different lately? Well, the time spent in Abilene at the Wholistic Rodeo was an adventure. I haven’t been out of town since last March and driving through West Texas was fun. Will have photos next newsletter. I met many interesting folks – from Bowen practitioners to foot bath facilitators to crystal purveyors – however the reason for being there was to share the tuning fork work. As with Reiki, you also experience the benefits of the practice such as the vibration and sound of the tuning forks; as well as the people I worked with, I was also being tuned. Time for me to spend more time with the forks! Meanwhile the intricacies of the human body are calling me – names of bones and muscles, the bony landmarks, integumentary sytem, etc. Right now massage school is all about anatomy and physiology. I had no idea massage therapists had to know (i.e. memorize) so much stuff and my respect for them has grown enormously. If you are still pondering what the integumentary system is – it’s skin and hair and nails – let me ask when was the last time you picked up a dictionary or studied a new topic. This month I challenge you to do something differently. Be less busy, more balanced. Share smiles with others. Try a different color! Love, Anna
QUESTIONS
By Anna Parkins
Sometimes I am asked questions about Reiki or energy work. For instance, what do you do when you are empathic and take on the symptoms of a client? What do you do when you absorb the “negative” vibrations evident in shopping malls? How can you protect yourself? These questions are addressed in my Reiki I classes. However, one of my resources is “The Art of Spiritual Healing” by Sherwood. This book does not specifically reference Reiki, but it does help the healer take steps to adequately equip themselves for such situations. When you embark on the Reiki path, you are deliberately taking steps to improve your life and experience the higher vibrations of light, love and joy. When I do not have a response or feel I do not have the experience to draw upon, I seek the advice of my teachers and friends. We all have special gifts, but that does not mean as teachers we all see auras, we are all super-sensitive to energy or we know all the answers about Reiki. And sometimes there is no right or wrong answer. Again one of my recent questions was about the Christian aspect of Reiki. Mrs. Takata referred to Reiki as “God energy.” In explaining the Japanese term Reiki to the Western mind, this was a good answer (in my opinion). But what if the questioner wants a deeper answer relative to their own belief in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Father. Exactly what is Reiki, when there is no context in the Christian mind of energy or vibration or channeling. The argument is about healing itself and this makes for an interesting discussion. What if the person you want to help does not desire healing at a subconscious level? Questions are like bubbles that come to the surface looking for resolution and completion. I love questions. The exciting part is that the answers sometimes come to us in bits and pieces. Do you believe that for every question there is an answer? Do you believe that we receive help from angels and guides? Recently in a healing session when I asked the client for an intention (one of the ingredients I ask the client for in all of my sessions) she was unable to come up with anything. I asked if she had a question. In fact she did have a question she had been struggling with for some time. At the end of the session, the client was beaming. She had received her answer and was very happy. All I know is that she asked for help and Spirit provided what she needed, she had a new direction, the answer had been given. My role was to be the facilitator, Spirit did the rest. Questions are healthy. By stimulating our inquiring minds, we learn and grow. So keep the questions coming. I’m willing to research and come up with some kind of answer!l
TRUE OR FALSE?
If you’ve got questions,
we’ve got answers!
(The answer does not come from Yellow Book or from someone else, it comes from within. So the answer is false. Even when the answer is provided by a teacher or friend or found in a book, confirmation that it is true for you comes from your own self.)
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
The benefits of Reiki reach far beyond those of any other healing system. As million of people around the world have already discovered, Reiki’s peaceful, elegantly simple, hands-on healing intelligence transcends cultures and religious boundaries and can help you to unravel your inner mysteries, heal physical and spiritual wounds, and release your potential for happiness.

NOTE FROM ANNA
This newsletter (as usual) has developed a life of its own with different colors and fonts. I somehow lost the headers I used in recent formats. (Mercury is still retrograde.) Those words were relevant to edition #2, this is edition #3. It may be time for a different format altogether or for someone else to play editor and writer. At any event, the month of October has been a terrific month. Next newsletter will have super photos from the Reiki share with horses. And I will write more about Abilene next time. In the meantime, I will start packing for my move to North Dallas. Also I have Reiki II classes on October 28 th and November 4 th, plus a Reiki I in the wings scheduled for December 1st. Watch for announcements in Anna’s Antics for November, an email mailing for those in the local Reiki community. Life is busy and life is balanced. If there is a topic you would like to see in my newsletter, please let me know.
